– Two young men were shot and killed early this morning in Delmas 49, just above the National School. – Witnesses say a “zoreken” vehicle full of armed men pulled up and opened fire on a group of three individuals. – One of the three survived. The vehicle reportedly came from Delmas 41, passed through Faustin 1er, and fled. – Victims: One wore a white t-shirt with jeans, the other a black t-shirt. Both bodies are still on the ground. – Police are on the scene.

members of the Viv Ansanm gang broke into the Nos Petits Frères et Sœurs (St. Hélène) orphanage in Kenscoff by smashing through a perimeter wall. Without firing a single shot, they headed directly to the section housing children with disabilities and kidnapped at least six people, including a foreign national named Ms. Gina, an Irish citizen who is the head of that section. Several staff members were also taken.

Five UNICEF employees who were kidnapped by gangs in Port-au-Prince on July 7 have been released as of tonight. Another staff member had already been freed on July 8.
